About Me
After my studies, I performed as a singer, backing vocalist, and dancer in various Dutch bands, including Country Trash Band, Tony Delmonte and The Soulisters Group, and Margriet Eshuijs Band. During this time, I met my husband, Bas, who has recently build a magazine style website about his memoirs that also describes a large part of our life together. It’s been a whirlwind of adventure—sailing oceans, building houses, boats and much more, go to: My Time Wander
Highlights in France:
From 1999 to 2004, I worked as a real estate agent at ORPI. In 2008, I co-founded “Morvan Artistique,” a group of 20 French and Dutch artists based in and around Parc du Morvan, which thrives to this day. In 2009, Bas and I opened “Table-Tableau,” a cultural center for art workshops. For 10 summers, we welcomed people from around the world, hosting workshops with professional instructors. I taught weekly classes in oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting.
In 2016, we moved from the countryside to La Charité-sur-Loire, where I opened my Atelier Faubourg and boutique “Art en Loire,” a platform for my work and that of other artists. After eight years, I passed “Art en Loire” to Carole and Catherine, who continue its legacy.
Beyond paper, cardboard, and canvas, I’ve embraced textiles and monotype printing, reusing materials like old photos, wallpaper, and lace found at French flea markets and in historic houses. I love working in my studio, plein-air painting along the Loire or in Sancerre’s vineyards, or during my travels. Since 2024, I’ve added natural textile dyeing and Gelli plate printing to my workshops. You’re never too old to learn and experiment!
Inspiration:
My muse is nature, our travels, signs and symbols, decorations, textiles, and repurposed fabrics. I draw from embroidery and threads of the Akha and Hmong hill tribes near Chiang Rai in Thailand, where we are now quietly enjoying our retirement and our studio.
